THE STUDENT SENATE

The Student Senate serves as the legislative body of the USC, vested with the power to enact laws, resolutions, and regulations, except those reserved for initiative and referendum. Its powers include legislating policies, reviewing and approving budgets of the USC, LSCs, and student organizations, summoning officers for inquiries, impeaching officers, creating new Local Student Councils, proposing constitutional amendments, conducting inquiries and information campaigns, deciding on election-related matters, and convening as an Impeachment Court.

The Senate is composed of six (6) Senators elected at large by the student body, regardless of college, institute, or campus affiliation. The Student Senate is headed by the Senate President and the Senate President Pro-tempore.

Senate Committees

The Student Senate is divided into different committees, each with a Chairman and Vice Chairman, tasked with crafting policies and investigating issues within their jurisdiction, working alongside their Executive Council counterparts.
